These photographic safaris are for anyone who loves nature, enjoys photography and has the patience to quietly observe and wait for that magical moment.
Ann Aveyard will be your host and photographic guide throughout the trip, providing advice and assistance on creating images.
Ann's photographic safaris are built around time, knowledge and connections - not rushing from sighting to sighting,
Each safari is designed to give guests extended hours in the field, allowing wildlife encounters to unfold naturally.
Rather than focusing solely on taking photographs we will observe animal behaviour, read body language and understand the ecosystems in which the wildlife lives. This deeper understanding helps photographers anticipate moments and create more meaningful images, while non-photographers gain a richer, more immersive safari experience.
Why the Masai Mara?
The Masai Mara, is widely regarded to be Africa's Greatest Wildlife Reserve and was voted as the eighth Wonder of the World in 2007. It is home to Africa's famous big five species (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as an abundance of other wildlife, including chetah, wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, antelope, ostrich, giraffe, hyena and many more. Apart from its abundance of wildlife there is a huge variety of birdlife. It's estimated there are over 570 recorded species of birds in the Mara, which includes species such as eagles, secretary birds, grey crowned cranes and many more.
The Masai Mara is truly a paradise for wildlife photographers.
Where will we be staying?
Location matters, and it doesn't get better than Governors' Camp which is located in the Masai Mara National Reserve on the banks of the Mara River.
Governors' Camp is a luxury, all inclusive tented, unfenced camp in the heart of the Reserve. The camp provides an authentic, truly immersive safari experience, sleeping under canvas, surrounded by nature with all the comforts you need. We will have early access to the reserve, being the first out on game drives while the light is soft and the animals are active.
